Lab-Created Diamonds are developed in highly-controlled lab environments using advanced technological processes that mimic the conditions that diamonds naturally develop when they form in the mantle beneath the Earth's crust. They use a diamond seed and are exposed to gases with a high level of carbon and build on top of the diamond seed. As a result, HPHT diamonds have 14 growth directions, while CVD has one growth direction.

Lab-Grown Diamonds are identical to mined diamonds and can only be distinguished in a gemological laboratory by checking the report number inscribed on the diamond's girdle. Man-made diamonds are diamonds grown from a diamond seed.
